Btw, another difference is the fact that car insurance is dealt with by the individual states, having nothing to do with the federal government.
As someone else said, I can choose not to drive (and I dont), but I cant choose not to get sick at any point. Now if they were to have everyone pay car insurance, including people without cars, then the two would be comparable.
