I think because despite the prevalence of the concept of female sexual 'empowerment' (i.e. The notion that women can/should/ought to be free of societal or moral sexual restriction or judgment), slut shaming is still common, especially amongst women. And, women are both critical and appraising of each other, on both conscious and unconscious levels.
We notice when a woman is thinner, prettier, larger chested, curvier than we are...and we notice when the men we are with notice that too. But, instead of just realizing that appreciating an attractive person isn't in itself infidelity, or a desire to engage in it, we turn it on it's ear and default to the "He wants her more than me" position. It now becomes about our own insecurities and sense of attractiveness, because let's face it, the strip clubs aren't stocked with ugly chicks.
We are so invested in not appearing to be jealous (because we do understand that this is NOT an attractive attribute), that we again turn it, and now the issue lands solidly on men -- "How could you be soooo disgusting as to want to go look at a naked woman parading around for money? Have you no conscience? You're a pig" Women who do this will either a) elevate the stripper to victim hood and the men going to view them as, at best, perpetuators of a stereotype and at worst, a predator re-victimizing this woman; or b) label the stripper as trash and STILL label the men as pigs for wanting to see them.
At any rate, I think that for many women, it boils down to insecurity, the fear that their guy is comparing them to the stripper(s), and although I'm not a man, I think that that rarely happens. I have a feeling that the two things are very different in the male mind. Idk....I don't see anything wrong with going to strip clubs.
Ive been to them, Ive friends past and present who are strippers, they aren't real super interested in these guys shoving $20's at them, they are however, super interested in the $20's cuz they are not even paid minimum wage by the club and they have to tip out to the bar tenders and waitresses at the end of the night. It isn't all stripper poles and pasties up there lol.
This is becoming somewhat of an age-old question, really. You're absolutely correct, those women have free will to work wherever they please, and are in no way victimized or degraded, for the same reason that shoe shiners aren't degraded doing the work they do: it is a simple business transaction. What feminists don't seem to realize is that men aren't actually out to get them, they're just horny quite often and sometimes that seems to get in the way of what feminists would deem an "ideal" society.
Really, they should stop complaining and be grateful we live in a society where we pay them for that service (should they choose that line of work), instead of a society where women actually ARE degraded *ahem* certain Islamic traditions *ahem*. And to that, I'd like to ad that if they complained about this sort of thing a thousand years ago, they'd probably be beaten and raped.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
