Assuming that when you mean "sick" you mean a communicable disease..... ......and not diabetes or high blood pressure...... I think that the answer is 3 fold 1) understanding how illnesses are transferred inherently will decrease a medical professional's exposure as they will automatically do things to prevent getting sick (e.g. Frequent hand washing, using gloves, etc. ) 2) recognizing the symptoms quicker and knowing what to do can help speed recovery (e.g.Is that burning sensation when urinating to be ignored or is it a urinary tract infection) 3) easier access to medical care (e.g. They can self prescribe, can ask colleagues for help, etc. ) Best wishes for good health!.
Doctors are people too! Therefore they do get sick. A few thoughts: Since you probably don’t see your doctor on a daily, weekly or even monthly basis, it is entirely possible that he/she has come down with something sometime in between your visits.
There are usually 2 or more doctors in an office so you might see doctor #2 instead of your usual one and not know the reason. He/she is unavailable. He/she might be sick.
Doctors should be the epitome of health - since they know how the body works and how to keep it in top working order. However, I’ve seen less-than-fit doctors so this doesn’t necessarily mean the doctors will be healthy! But maybe the average doctor takes better care of him/herself than the average non-doctor!
Our doctors office has a little box of masks for you to wear if you have a fever, cough, etc. I’m sure plenty of sick people don’t follow this rule but it probably helps somewhat. Doctors probably have good hygiene. I know all the doctors I’ve had always come into the room and immediately go to the little sink and wash their hands.
Therefore, they don’t contaminate their patients. Also, this limits their own contamination. Hand-to-hand contact I think remains the best way for us to expose each other to germs.
Therefore, if you’re touching strangers - have a job with lots of hand-shaking - it’s a good idea to frequently wash hands or use that hand sanitizer stuff. Preferably before you eat, bite fingernails, rub your nose or eyes etc..
Hygiene. Rest. Eating well.Hygiene.
Positive outlook. Keep your distance.Hygiene. Gloves.
And luck! It’s not easy, but it’s worth it. I work in a jail and have avoided colds and the flu, as well as HIV, AIDS, MRSA, Hep C, and an active rare strain of TB.
I’m diligent with handwashing and hand sanitizer. I also keep lotion nearby so my hands don’t dry and crack from all the washing. I get 8 hours of sleep a night, and I’m an optimist.
Some people are obsessed with finding symptoms and seem to catch every sniffle that comes along. When I must stand very close in front of someone, I hold my breath or only exhale (so I can speak) while facing them. I turn my head to inhale.
This seems to cut down on minute droplets from spittle or coughs being inhaled. I also never eat anything or touch my face without using sanitizer first. Of course, when someone unexpectedly spits or throws urine in your face, it comes down to dumb luck and lots of blood tests.
But your doctor doesn’t generally run across hatred in his patients . Divalicious's Recommendations 4.25 oz. Because they wash their hands a lot! Doctors wash their hands a lot during the course of the day, and they wash them well. Hand washing has been cited in multiple studies as the single most effective way to avoid illness. In addition, over the years, I would imagine that a doctor’s immune system would build up strong defenses against some common illnesses to which s/he is exposed frequently.
Doctors do not get sick because they never touch their face when examining or treating a patient. Doctors wash their hands immediately after coming in contact with a patient. Sometimes there are sinks in the room and sometimes not, but they always wash their hands after leaving a patient.
This is because germs are passed on from our hands. If you do not touch any part of your face and wash your hands immediately after coming in contact with someone that is ill, you most likely will not get sick.
