I'll believe 'rational' when I see it. Otherwise, - I'll have confidence in things yet seen.
Rationality is the recognition of reason as one's only source of knowledge. Reason has two tools for gaining knowledge: sense perception and logic. If belief in god is rational, then he should be either: (1) detectable by sense perception; and/or (2) discernable by logic.
As for sense perception, can you point at god so we can all see him? Does he have a scent that we can track? Let's state the obvious: if proving god was that simple, there wouldn't be any atheists.
As for logic, are there any arguments proving that a god exists? I personally have studied philosophy for the past 10 years, specializing in the philosophy of religion for 8 of those years. I think that I can say with complete confidence that ALL arguments--yes, every single one of them--have failed, and it isn't even all that difficult to find their flaws.
Because belief in god is not detectable by the senses and cannot be known through logical argumentation, then belief in god cannot be brought about by reason. Therefore, belief in god is not rational.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
