Why can't we 'appeal' an appeal? What if you still get an unfair vote for a 'real' answer?

I got a big '1' score for giving a detailed answer on 'escrow' on a real estate transaction. I appealed it and it came back exactly the same. That was the first time that ever happened.

I thought only 'cut and paste' answers got crummy votes...LOLDo you think we should be able to 'appeal' an appeal? Asked by HELENofTROY 37 months ago Similar questions: appeal unfair vote real answer Amazon > Askville.

Nahhhh....... Just let it go, Helen. It sounds like you’ve been hit with a double whammy...unfair rating initially (I can’t imagine ANY answer from you that would rate less than a 3! ), and then your appeal going to someone who hates appeals.

This has happened to me a few times. I really don't know if people passing up an appeal leave it the same score. I would think they would average in the default 3 if no one rates the appeal, it would seem.

But we have no way to really prove or test it and the AVPTB have never given us this kind of info. It doesn't seem fair to leave it the same score--when a regular answer isn't rated it defaults to a three, after all, so my "educated guess" is that your answer was rated low by someone, rather than defaulted. These things happen.

There are some who express their opinions about the game by rating others down. You might have been rated down just for signing your answer, if you did. You might have been whammied by one of the notorious Askville "Grumps"!

Who knows?! You just can't take these things personally, I do know that. We can't control what others chose to do, only our own reactions.

But it's not a big deal when you think of the greater scheme of things. There are probably other answers you were rated generously high on by someone else.It all balances out, I always think. You'll make it up in your next great rating!

I don't think we should be able to appeal an appeal, though--at some point we just have to accept it and get on with the game. People already complain about doing appeals as it is...if we could appeal an appeal, it might get even worse! I know it's particularly frustrating when we have really put a lot of effort into answer and it's rated low, but that's just the way it is....sorry it happened to you, Helen!

Poppet .

I think you have a point.. I too have had appeals come back unchanged. They were not cut and paste they were well thought out answers that should have done much better. It was as if they were not even looked at, our community neighbors the few do not bother to vote, skip or vote the same and maybe vote lower.

On several DB's discussing this very issue and bringing out the question and answer for all to discuss recieved the same reaction from all that viewed it. WTH? , is putting the reacton mildly, they could not understand or believe that even after appeal it was rated so!

There have been alot of unfair votes mostly brought on by the introduction of BQ's, people have lost interest in doing the right thing when it comes to appeals. I would like to see a second appeals system set up, the question is how in order to make it work properly? Sources: PC123 .

Because we all must learn to accept the judgments give us. The key to living in a land where we have "rule of law" (not rule of person) is the equal protection under the law. This means that sometimes I like the law and sometimes I don't, but everyone gets the same law.

Some break law X and get away with it, but I don't. But that's okay, because later I break law Y and someone else gets caught breaking it. It evens out.

Seriously, I went over my answers and I got 1 ratings on some I thought were 4 or 5. But then, some of my "best answers" were one-off humor shots that I wasn't taking seriously (shhhhhhh! ) It balanced out there, it balances out with you, also.

Let it go, Larry, let it go.

1 If it came back the same, you may find that either people skipped their chance to vote on your appeal, or they didn't come into Askville for a while, and so it was too late for them to vote.

2 I don't think we should be able to appeal an appeal! Otherwise, people would appeal until they get what they want! I think Askville should send an appeal around until it gets at least 2-3 votes and then finalize the result.

It seems they are not doing that right now. (But hey, they were working on Questville last year. This year that they have no work to do on Questville, they will listen to us more than before!

;) ) .

Appeal rating even if you have the "Best Answer.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
