Yes Yes and YES. It would be less of a drain on America if we fed people at soup kitchens. More people would be looking for work if they had to stand in a line with other people.
It would embarrass them to be seen there for years and years.
Subsidies help no one in the long run. How about giving food stamps and require a set hours of career skill training and set hours dedicated to job search (from a job skill training facility where it can be monitored and confirmed the search is happening). Better yet, get the government out of this and allow private companies to step up.
There is a company in new york that hires any single unemployed mother who applies to work in a textile type factory making clothes for universities and other organizations. They pay a fair wage ($10/hour to start for unskilled labor) part of their day is dedicated to job skill training in multiple areas and day care is provided. The owners take a smaller salary in exchange for giving the hand up.
Much more effective and efficient than current government programs.

A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
