Why do Catholics pray to saints and Mother Mary?

In terms of Saintly intercession, most Catholics *like me* call upon them for help. There is no formal way for saintly intercession. Though alot of devout religious will go to the tombs/shrines of a specific saint, and will pray at the site.

I would do this myself, but lack of funds prevents me. Travel to a specific site is not required, but being firm as you pray works *not faultering/doubting*. I have prayed for saintly intercession numerous times, and it has worked for me.

*I asked from a specific saint *Saint Faustina* every time for intercession*. Again, in regards to saintly intercession/help, there is no formal way of asking, just be honest and respectful. As a side note, alot of people will claim that asking for saintly intercession is not Christian, but I disagree, as it is the same as asking someone to pray for you if you are in need.

Matthew 6: 9 - 13 the model sample main prayer that our Lord Christ Jesus gave to us as the blue print to how we should pray to our grand creator almighty Living GOD. So to get you started Let us break the prayer down for you? OK?

Verse 9 start with the word "You Must Pray" then "This Way" Our Father in the heavens, Heaven is the place where Gods sits on his throne then it goes on to say "Let your name be sanctified" do you know GODs name? If you don't then you need to find out GOD"s name. But until then, Just open your heat up and share all your feelings and concerns as you would with the most wonderful counselor of them all.

Believe me GOD loves you so much that he gave his only begotten son so that you and I and your mom could live to get to ask the question that you have ask here on yahoo answers. Our model prayer directs us to ask that " GOD's Will take place not only in the heavens but here on the earth where you, your mom and I live along with millions of others. If you have studied the bible you know that there is peace in the heavens.

You and I both know that there is war after war here on the earth and so much suffering here on the earth. Make sure that you thank GOD for his kindness in providing daily meals us. Yes there is hunger in the world.

Yet that is not GODs doing that is man misusing the free will that GOD gave him/her. We hurt each other all the time even when we hate ourselves for doing the hurt. This is where we may find ourselves not being able to find self forgiveness for the hurtful things we h ave done in our lives.

Verses 14, assures us that we will be forgiven by God himself, GODs forgiveness is based on our being able to forgive others especially those that have hurt us and used us. We as human most of the time do not have this kind of forgiveness in our hearts. So prayer to the most powerful one, our Grand Creator GOD is needed.

For where we fall short Our Grand Creator will help us. Just keep on asking ( found in James 7:7) James 1:6 ask that even thought you may feel that your prayer are not being answered you need to keep on asking not doubting that Our Grand Creator will answer. Back to the sample prayer; You may not know it but The Grand Creator heard your prayer as you thought it long before you presented it here on Yahoo Answers.

I too needed to pray for my mom a lot and my prayers were answered. The damage in my mom's childhood that caused my mom to be the way she was? Was so deeply rooted that as a child I ran away from home just to save myself and found that no matter where I ran.

My heart I had to take with me. The love for my mom in my heart followed me always and still does now that she is in her rest I miss her so It was through heart felt sincere prayer that the Grand Creator heard my prayers. Just be sincere and do not forget to give awareness of our Father, in the heavens, Let your name be sanctified (get to know GODs) ask for his peace upon the earth as it is in the heaven.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
