Why do Catholics worship idols?

Well, I would have to agree that Catholics - as well as most other nominal "christians" - do employ idols in their worship, whether it's statues of "saints," or crosses, or symbolism of any kind really, because true Christians know that God's inspired word states emphatically to stay away from all of those things. Here's a scripture which will make you laugh - and think: Read Psalms 115:4-8.

You don't know what you are talking about! I was a protestant until I was 27 y/o and Jesus called me into the Catholic Church. Sometimes a person may pray in front of a statue of one of the Apostles or one of the heroes of the Faith that they call saints but they certainly are not worshiping the statue!

The official teaching of the Catholic Church is not that we should pray to Mary or any of the saints. They encourage you to ask Mary or one of the saints to pray for you just sa my Protestant friends ask their Pastor and their church friends to pray for them when they are having a difficult time. When you say that the Catholic Church teaches that Jesus is dead and can't help you, you are really off base!

During the Mass we pray to both The Father and to Jesus to help us and save us. Where do you get this nonsense from? The reason that the catholics have the body of Jesus on the Cross is that it was Jesus Crucifixion that saved us!

I was in the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem and visited rooms carved out of the rock underneath the Church where early Christians worshiped and there were carvings on the wall from the year 500 and one of them was of Jesus on the Cross! Jesus displayed on the Cross is nothing new it was the protestants that took Jesus off the cross for their own theological reasons. Are there things wrong with the Catholic Church?

Certainly. But I have worshiped in, belonged to and read about many Protestant Churches and there is something wrong with them too. I have found that the only thing that can be trusted is the entire Bible in it's original language.

You are perverting what it says. Never the less you are a brother in Christ and I pray at this time That God lead you into all truth and wisdom. That He protect you from all harm and guide you in all you do.

I ask in the blessed name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
