Why do Mormons rally around Mitt Romney if they say his religion will not affect his presidency?

I do not think that Romney's Mormon religion will have a significant effect on his vote totals. I'm not saying whether I think he'll win or lose, but I'm saying that his religion won't effect the outcome. The people who are the most fundamentalist Christian evangelicals who are most likely to have problems with the Mormon religion have far greater problems with President Obama.

The 15% of the country who "strongly dislike" Mormons are probably about the same 15% who don't believe President Obama was born in America. I think that the people who would be most likely to be driven not to vote for Romney because of his religion will instead be driven to vote for him because he's not a black Muslim (according to the forwarded emails they've received). There's a famous quote that I think perfectly applies here: "Republicans don't fall in love. They fall in line."

I don't think his religion will affect his vote totals.

No, you may know Christians who despise "MORMONISM". Big difference. BIG.

Christians love mormons themselves. They just don't like the lies mormons are taught to believe. Good thing you corrected yourself at the last.

I'm of the opinion that people won't vote for Romney because he's mormon. On the contrary. He's an official novelty.

But then, so once was Obama. Key word---was. Can't depend upon that one a second time around.

The thrill has worn off. Most Americans aren't known for a history of their dedicated, long term critical attention span. Few have noticed the dedication, at the very least, of Obama who has been a consistent champion of those with lower incomes.

Romney---by his own admission, mind, has NEVER championed anyone less than in his own personal circle. Poor people do not register on his scale of the "worthy". Even while bishop of his Boston congregation, he was known as a hard-nose when it came to people who were not in his "sphere".

He hadn't a clue. Fact: Obama actually lived a growing number of American's lives--with less: he never forgot his lesson, and he DOES something about it. What's Romney got?

He had to pay his latest sports car insurance from his trust fund? Rats.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
