Why do people assume the worst of you the moment you mention religion on the Hub forums?

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. There is a strong chance those very people who think less of you when religion is mentioned already felt that way before you opened your mouth. The important thing is to believe in what you believe in.

Stand up for it and allow others to do the same.

I am pretty new so I had no idea people assume the worst when you mention religion. If you are a believer then by definition you see God as the ultimate reality on which all other reality is based and certainly not as a "non-existent entity. " So of course you'll want to mention your belief every now and then.It is the lens through which you understand the world.

If you accept God as as a reality then He is the most important thing is your life and it would cowardly and even dishonest not to mention .

If you are not a believer, then you have simply chosen a different belief system. There is plenty of evidence on both sides of the fence, so basically each of us believes what we choose to believe. No need to worry about people who do believe in God and like to talk about it.

Belief in God is worth absolutely nothing unless it is a completely free choice; no one can force you to believe anything you do not want to believe. If you are an honest committed atheist, defend your belief system with reason, but without anger at those who see things differently.

The biggest waste of time that I have ever encountered on the internet is the debate between theist and atheist. Never argue with a fool; anyone watching the display will hardly be able to tell who the fool actually is. You've a limited time on this Earth, and tilting at windmills is ridiculous.

I think the forums are more often a waste of time for that reason. If you want help for your hubs and hub creation, then the forums are awesome though.

So far no one has attacked me in particular for my personal beliefs so it is safe to say that maybe I am lucky.

Fair enough, and religious people should stop making religious comments on none religious questions and hubs. But that ain't going to happen because people who are grabbed by reigion can't help themselves.

I think the choice of wording is incorrect in this question, no-one assumes "the worst of anyone" who mentions religion! An atheist commenting on a religious thread is simply presenting his/her view on the topic in question.

Within religion there are many different faiths, and between all these faiths there will be many differences of opinion relating to certain religious topics.

No offence meant in any way toward anyone of any religion, I respect the choice and views of all!

I've noticed that and it's sad, and senseless. Many times the comments are mean and belittling, too.

If God is of no interest to you- that is your business. So, mine your business. And if you vote negative- I hope it makes you feel good, because I don't care.

That has been a debate since the beginning of time. If you read in the Bible you will see where this was debated and spoken of even in Bible times. I feel that religious beliefs are very personal and people sometimes feel that others are being unrealistic with their comments.

I believe that those who are offended by the religious remarks about God and believing in God and heaven and hell are sometimes convicted or maybe aren't sure and this makes them want to bristle or come back in a strong way. We each have a decision to make and no one can make this for us. We do however have to live with our decision and what it brings us in the end.As a Christian I know that I can only speak the truth as I know it and it is my responsibility to do it out a heart of love and not vengence.

This is what I try to do.

Personally, I don't think its fair for the religioius fanatics to avoid an athiest point of veiw on their beleifs. Why not take something else into consideration in the name of good conversation? Why shut out every other point of veiw?

If you beleive so strongly you should have no reason to feel threatend and able to be mature and coexist with every other possible beleif system. Why get deffensive. If it is undoubtedly what you beleive then where does the harmony stop?

How strong are your beleifs if they cant stand up to any kind of scruitiny?

I don't think its because they think the worst of you,its simply because they don't understand the matter being discussed....in general people argue and pick up on things they don't understand...Just my opinion!

Personally I never enter into any discussion about things I don't understand including Politics and some Religions.

I am not religious but can respect the morality of it, however people have to have blame something for failings within and surrounding their lives, those who criticize any opinion whatsoever are the ones most like to be insecure in their own lives, if they were truly content with their conscience and lot then they would not need to belittle anybody else's views. Just remember it is those that complain who have the largest of problems, its like people who criticize homosexuality the most trying to be homophobic, tend to be slightly gay. People are generally scared and blame is their defence.

People love to shove their beliefs down others throats, on both sides. I think it's human nature for us to try and convert others mindsets. I believe on a subconscious level, people are incapable of coexisting.

Most people say that they don't care about what others think, but whenever an opposing view arises, people naturally retaliate. It will never be stopped. I am an atheist (sort of), and I find it annoying when atheists rant about the non-existence of God.At the same time, I find it annoying when religious people rant about how there is definitely a God.

In the end, you will NEVER change what someone believes. They have to change their belief on their own. Attacking their belief only strengthens their desire to hold on to it, so that they may one day prove you wrong.

I do like religious queries and religious hubs and I do not care for others' opinion because I am not ready at all to abandon my beliefs for atheists or hypocrites who act in the same manner.

I know God on a different level than most do and I see clearly that the problem lies in the old dogma the religion carries around with it. Back up and think every thing you know you were taught by man not God,I have live the life of a true free spirit,I know God most are searching but they are looking in the wrong place if you follow the multitude you are not on the right path! God is truth. Religion is of man and when God is talk about, man is then convicted and is shown for who they are and no man want to see the evil and sin in themselves.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
