Most Americans are not so much attached to the 224 year old Second Amendment that they can't welcome gun real control.
Yes, in a nation with more cars, there will be more car deaths. In a nation with more swimming pools, there will be more swimming pool deaths. In a nation with more motorcycles, there will be more motorcycle deaths.
I can go on and on with this. What I'm interested in is why you don't talk about the violent crime rate? After all, aren't guns supposed to cause crime?
Yet despite adding 140 million new guns from 1993 to 2011, the gov't says gun homicides are down 39% and gun crime is down 69%. See the link. Now, to answer your question.
Why are most Americans so attached to the Second Amendment. Because privately owned guns = freedom. Time and time again, history shows us that disarmed people can be victimized by their own government.
Over the last 100 years in places like Turkey, USSR, Germany, China, Cambodia, Uganda, Columbia, etc. people were disarmed, and then killed by their own governments. To the tune of 56 Million dead. That will never happen here in an armed America.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
