Why does Amazon take longer to pick items just because I choose free shipping? Dishonest attempt to push to paid?

Well, I guess it might be true, the old saying that "you get what you pay for". That would be one of the downfalls of "free shipping"--that it might not be as fast as paid shipping. Think of the money you are saving--it's supposed to compensate for the time.

Thanks for that quick answer. The thing that bothers me is that it does not cost any more to pick the order today or three days from now. It feels like they are saying if you want good customer service pay extra.

But there may be more orders ahead of yours that are picked first. I really don't know the specific situation in their warehouse, but I kind of doubt that they intentionally put off an order--they want it out of there to work on the next one, I am sure.

But if I pay more I go to the front of the line is my point even though both are shipped standard shipping through usps or ups. If indeed that is really the case that they have so many they can't keep up. My guess is they just hold the orders longer that don't pay the extra. My evidence of this is two years ago I got orders shipped the same speed if I picked free or 3 to 5 days.

My last order the delivery date on several items was two weeks after the order was placed. Now since I know most delivers are 3 to 5 days from actual pick up date and I don't see any tracking info I can only guess they label the boxes then don't let usps or ups pick them up for several days making it look like the shipper and not Amazon.Am I the only one who has noticed the speed difference in the last year or two? They do not always take longer. But why should you rush? You must pay for speed.

They can plan their shipping better if they have optional items to fill a load. You save becasue they save.

I doubt they are holding stuff back until they get a full load. I bet those huge warehouses have many trucks leaving every day. All I know is other retailers that give free shipping get my order out the next day and I get it within 3 to 5 days.

With Amazon if I don't pay the extra the 5 to 7 days is more like 14 days lately. Charadeur 11 months ago .
