Why does Donald Trump support bringing foreign engineers as immigrants, when we need lettuce-pickers and not engineers?

Keeping things that work in favor of things that might or have been proven not to work is hardly regressive. Being "progressive" and fvcking everything up in the end is what's ultimately regressive.
