I've got no problem with England. I'm an American, but I could name more English players and more starting 11s for England than I could for the U.S. I've always had a special thing for English football; I cheered for them all the way after we went out in 2006. Best of luck to us both for getting out of this Group of Hell.
P.S.: I hate the word "soccer" too.
It goes waaaaay back to when USA and UK faced each other in the World Cup. On 29 June 1950, at the 1950 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, the United States defeated England 1–0 in a group match. This unexpected result has led to the match being described as the "Miracle on Grass",1 in reference to the 1980 Miracle on Ice, in which the US ice hockey team beat the Soviet Union.23 The match was played in Belo Horizonte at Estádio Independência.
The game and the U.S. team were profiled by author Geoffrey Douglas in his book The Game of Their Lives,4 which was made into a film of the same name (later renamed as The Miracle Match).
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
