Why is football often associated with American Thanksgiving?

Contrary to what some American football fans might have you believe, it has never been documented that the Indians and teh Pilgrims picked up sides for a game at the first thanksgiving, but the history of NFL football n thanksgiving goes back well before the days of television. In 1934, the Detroit Lions played the Chicago Bears (who else) on Thanksgiving in what was thought at the time to be somewhat of a gamble. Nobody really knew if it was wise to mix professional football and a traditional family holiday.

Turns out it was, and Detroit, along with Chicago and Dallas have been among the regular participants on a vast majority of the thanksgiving games ever since. Everyone has a favorite thanksgiving Football memory. Mine is 1999, when Leon Lett of the Dallas cowboys tried to recover a blocked kick in a snowstorm, and instead ended up giving a touchdown and the victory to Miami.

All he had to do was "Lett" it go. (see video below). What makes the story even more funny is that a girl wrote him a letter telling him not to worry about it, people made mistakes all the time.

She went on to tell him about a guy in the SUPER BOWL the year before who carelessly allowed the ball to be stripped from behind just before he crossed the goal line. Guess what? IT WAS LEON?

When you think of it, what could go better than a stomach full of turkey and pumpkin pie than a great big easy chair an the Lions vs Bears on the TV? Americans love their NFL football. Best Thanksgiving football moment ever.

Football is an American tradition that brings pleasure to many Americans, especially men. Usually on Thanksgiving the men chill out and enjoy watching their favorite team play football, while their wives cook Thanksgiving turkey and traditional sides such as cranberries, mashed potatoes, green beans, and ham. In my family we always put cranberries in our tea for good luck, and it tastes AMAZING.It is customary that the Detroit Lions always play on Thanksgiving.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
