Why is it that months after the Hub Pages award someone an accolade, that they are take away and?

Some accolades are based on activity on HubPages and if you are no longer active (i.e. , actively leaving comments on hubs of others) then the accolade gets taken away. Accolades that mark achievements (like having written 10 hubs) won't be taken away of course.

The main meaning of accolade is the tap on the shoulder during the knighthood ceremony, a knighthood can be withdrawn if the knight starts to behave in a non-knightly manner. A much later, secondary meaning is, praise; praise can also be withdrawn for behaving in a non-praiseworthy manner. On here, accolades are silly electronic medals and are not worth worrying about.

That's a very interesting response. An "Accolade" is defined as an honor, and conferring of praise. Something that once someone accomplishes it, one would think that it is theirs.It's a good thing that the Boy Scouts of America doesn't take back a scout's eagle scout badge, because they turn 19 and can't earn anymore merit badges.

It's a good thing that a bowling league doesn't take back a bowler's trophy, simply because they don't have enough money to bowl the next year. It's a good thing that the NFL doesn't take back all the players superbowl rings, simply because their team didn't make the play offs the next year.It's a good thing for everyone's sake that employers (with the exception of Enron) don't take back their employees paychecks, because they are laid off the next week or the company's CEO didn't get that big bonus check that he wanted. This could go on and on and on, but I think by now everyone who reads this should get the idea - That once someone has earned something, then it's yours to keep or do what you want with.

Maybe instead of using the word accolade for this little symbol that no one can physically touch, and really has no true meaning, it could be called "The thing that you get to keep, as long as you keep doing it for ever and ever". Or maybe just don't bother giving something out at all, since they are just going to take back anyway!

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
