Why is soccer so popular now since the recently broadcast World Cup?

My personal thoughts are that we "keep hearing" about soccer lately, so those of us who do not typically watch soccer have to tune and and see what is going on and what all the fuss is about. I live in Chicago and when the Bears, the Black hawks , Bulls or Cubs are doing good, or make the finals SO many more people tune in. That was how I started watching the Bears actually, it was a Playoffs game.

I needed to see what the fuss was about. Of course with any sport you have your real true fans. Growing up and raising the kids we often went to The professional games.

We are the Fire now, but back when we went I can't recall the Chicago team name. The point is there was NEVER anyone at the stadium. Half of the stadium would be empty, every time.

I personally do not think America is into Soccer as much as Football, Basketball and Football, just my thoughts :)http://www.flickr.com/photos/lbott/361138026.

Soccer (or Football as its more widely known in the rest of the world) is probably the worlds most popular sport and has been for a long time. It may have gained some popularity where you live but it is been very widely popular almost everywhere else. But the current Football World Cup has brought it back into the spotlight for those countries where it isn't as big, my own country included (New Zealand).

To give you an idea of its coverage take a look at this map from Wikipedia.

The World Cup is held only once every 4 years, so no matter how insignificant Soccer seems to be in the United States, every 4 years it will seem like the biggest deal of the summer. Soccer is the most played sport in the entire world and the World Cup is like the Olympics of Soccer. So all of the major media outlet talk about the World Cup for weeks leading up to the actual event.

I think this is also part of the reason the World Cup is so big in the U.S. Another big reason is the simple fact that everyone who lives in the U.S. Was at some point or another not from here, going back generation sometimes. My fiancées grandparents came from Italy when they were in their 20's and Soccer is still a big part of their lives. The subscribe to the Rai Italia channel which is an all Italian channel and it allows them to watch soccer all year round.

Soccer is a big part of the world and I think I always will be.

There are many factors that contribute to the popularity of soccer globally when it comes to spectators and participants. One key factor is this is simplicity in the sense of involvement that it gives to the players, the excitement and in the modern day time, its appeal as a television sport. Soccer is simple and it is one of the greatest attractions and one of the major reasons why every child wants to learn to play soccer. It is also a game where basic skills can be practiced on your own like skills in passing and control by kicking against a wall.

Soccer also has simple rules where anyone can understand the basics in just a few minutes. All of these simplicity contributes to it being successful for it means that millions of small children will begin to develop necessary skills and be involved in games form a very young age.It also involves eleven or more players and all of them in constant motion with few interruptions to the game itself. The rules are simple and conducive to the flow of the game in constant motion.

The game is also exciting, aside from the excitement of the goals themselves there is excitement in dribbling or seeing players dribble, doing the runs down the wings, tackling and displaying ball skills contributes in making it a lot more exciting. Popularity of soccer has spread and this is due to the television broadcasting. Television has market the excitement, simplicity and the sense of involvement in spectators.

I think in many parts of the world, particularly Europe and South America, soccer has been popluar for many years. Brazil, Germany, Italy, Spain, Argentina, France and England have been the best teams all time in the World Cup. I agree that in the United States the popularity of the sport has greatly increased over the last several years as the country has developed a competitive team on the world level.

The performance of the United States in this years World Cup has increased popularity and Landon Donovan has now become a household name. Don't be surprised to see an increase in the number of children taking a real interest in soccer, which is great for the sport. I predict a very good United States team for many years to come.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
