Why is there a difference between matter and spirit? Doesn't matter come from spirit as its origin?

Matter is a subset of repeatable phenomena and spirit is a subset of non repeatable phenomena. That is the what. The why is another issue.

Why implies intentionality and intention is anthropomorphic. My answer is a poor one. God only knows.

The kabbalah endeavors to adequately answer this kind of question. Philosophy is another field that strives in this direction. Poetry and art are just some more additional fields of this endeavor. It is not that it cannot be answered, it is that each individual must come up with their own authentic answer.

This is our task and no one can provide a satisfactory short cut. That is just my opinion and I have been know to be wrong before and I may just change my mind before I submit this answer to your amusement. We use science to observe, measure and postulate the nature of repeatable phenomena We can use religion as a way to reflect, speculate and communicate about non repeatable phenomena Science and religion are both ways of organizing the whys and wherefores of our perception of existence.

Here is the juxtaposition of the issue. Human beings are both material and spiritual. There are aspects of human life that can be measured and observed and experimented upon and there are aspects that cannot.

Religious issues cannot be scientifically proved. They need faith, otherwise they would be scientific knowledge. However, they can be attested to.

Just ask an alcoholic how they stay sober. I remember that those things that I do not know does not detract from those things that I do know.Do we know something because we can deconstruct it down to the subatomic level? How do we analyze love?

Is it only pheromones and electrochemical stimuli? How do we know God’s love? One interesting observation is that some of the greatest advances in scientific investigation was accomplished by scientists who postulated that God had so organized the universe of material phenomena that they could have faith that a scientific answer could eventually be discovered.

This enabled them to persevere through numerous failures. Some saints could claim similar perseverance through numerous moral failures. I do not know about you, but I am not a repeatable phenomenon.

When today is gone, it is gone.Is the origin of the universe the purview of cosmology or cosmogony, science or religion? My conclusion leads me to deplore the literacy of present day popular science in the issues of religion and visa versa. Every now and then you meet someone who displays competence in both fields and then you can have a constructive debate where there are no losers. In one real sense, if we were powerful enough to subtract spirit from matter in the case of a human being, the result would be a dead corpse.

So my conclusion, in a simplistic and metaphysical way is that the answer to the difference between the two would be "life". Whether life is the prerogative of science or religion is the basis of yet another debate! Is the joy in asking the question or getting the answer?

I bet on the former. Matter of density (no pun intended)... Matter is the stuff made by spirit in order to form the material or linear worlds. Matter is just thick or denser energy or spirit. All variety of experience is desired by spirit and this experience cannot be complete unless some of it comes from a material, time-bound existence.

Matter is, as has been said, energy and energy is just one manifestation or state of spirit. At one level, spirit becomes matter, at another level, matter returns to spirit. Spirit or creative consciousness does not lend itself to examination by the scientific method and so is disregarded but it is the creator and animator of all things deemed material. It is a continuous process and flows as desire dictates.

Matter and spirit Matter is perceivable via our five senses. Spirit is not. That's the simple answer.

Both are parts of God's creation. They are distinct and different. One does not proceed from the other.

The only exception to that statement would be to remember that God mself is spirit and is the Creator of all that is seen and unseen except for .

Spirit is eternal Spirit is an eternal element. Many, including myself, believe that God created our spirits and that these spirits existed before the world was. After these spirits were created God then went on to create the earth and all that we now have.

Once matter was ORGANIZED got put SPIRIT into it. Matter can exist without the spirit but it cannot be 'alive' without it. Sources: personal beliefs and the Bible .

Matter is physical and spirit is metaphysical. Matter is what the observable universe is made of; it's the substance that comprises physical things (i.e. Atoms and molecules).

Spirit is metaphysical, i.e. It transcends science. Even if you believe in spirits and think their some kind of energy, matter usually only includes things as small as atoms while excluding the concepts of binding energies, etc.I don't think the two can be equated or related though because science essentially created the term of "matter" and can't involved "spirit" because it's not a scientific phenomenon.

Matter is Both spirit and Light. This union describes GOD, who is eternal Spirit surrounded by Unapproachable light. Matter is spirit organized in such a way that it is manifest, or put in order by God to become all of the periodic elements that make up everything else.

If they were not structured they would be nothing! Spirit would be the male having no beauty, Light is the female having all of the glory, Spirit says create my image, thus Creation! Just as a man conceives his seed into a woman.

This happens in darkness, like from the very beginning. You are created the same way. Consider this if an invisible God is going to reveal himself, he must put upon his invisible being a Garment!

Your physical body is a garment of flesh over what you really are an eternal spiritual being. This is the problem with sin, we are so distracted by the physical aspect of our being that we ignore the spiritual aspect which is what God is communicating with. Get Wisdom , and understanding!

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
