Why isn't a life sentence, a life sentence?

I do not want murderers to ever come out. A huge percentage of cold blooded killers that get out, kill again. I want a life sentence for Capital crimes to be just that.....a life sentence.

Keep them away from society until they die.

I think it's called a life sentence because your life ends more or less when you're in prison. Prison does not rectify someone's character - it just punishes people. If you're lucky to survive prison and come out your life is still more or less over.

People who have done serious time will tell you that when they come out they have a terrible time fitting in the regular flow of society. As a famous quote says: "I went in with a bachelor of marijuana and came out with a doctorate in cocaine. " Prisons are detrimental the way they are now.

They do not solve the problems of messed-up people.

Many State's and Federal Governments have what is called, "truth in sentencing." This means that the sentence the Judge gives a defendant is the full sentence he/she serves. Maryland does NOT have truth in sentencing.

The amount of time a defendant serves in jail is set by the Maryland Division of Corrections. It has established a general guideline that outlines the length of a sentence and how "good time" credits will affect the sentence served.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
