No one who is capable of teaching you to play beyond the basics is going to provide instructional materials for free. There are two reasons for this. One, anyone with that kind of skill is going to normally get paid for their services, as a living.
You don't go to the barber and insist he give you a free haircut. If you want a free haircut, you do it yourself or find someone who isn't qualified to cut your hair, and as a result you have a bad haircut and everyone who knows anything about hair can tell that you are either too cheap or too broke to pay for one. It's going to be the same with learning to play the violin.
You don't insist that a violinist provide you with free lessons through YouTube tutorials or otherwise try to cut corners unless you want it to be obvious to anyone who knows anything about the violin that you didn't take lessons. There is a huge gap between those who study violin with a professional and those who don't, and there are no exceptions. The other reason you won't find what you are looking for is that no one who is qualified to teach violin is going to post their materials online for free.
They know how dangerous it is to try to learn without two-way communication with a qualified instructor because they all know someone who suffered a career-ending injury while playing the violin. They also know that, if they want to be able to charge for lessons, they should compete with themselves by offering a free alternative. That's just stupid from a marketing perspective.
Do yourself a favor. Don't limit yourself by refusing to give yourself the best possible chance from the beginning, both in your choice of teacher and your choice of instrument. Otherwise, whatever you do is going to be a waste of time and money, because you won't even come close to your full potential, whatever that might be.
If you can't afford lessons, wait until your circumstances change. If you can't find a local teacher, there are plenty of qualified teachers who will help you long-distance via Skype or video exchange.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
