Why was the sherman antitrust act important?

The Sherman Antitrust act gave the government the power to control monopolistic corporations in the event that those corporations were using their position of power unfairly. The act made the government 'top dog' so to speak when it came to who had more power (a corporation or a government). Edit: I would like to point out that monopolies are not a bad thing, and competition is not always the best.

Look at Microsoft for example. Now imagine if there were 3 major OS providers, each with their own office software, document formats, etc... In that scenario it's highly possible that whole businesses and organizations would be unable to share documents and do work together on a computer. With Microsoft as the provider, everything becomes standardized under them.

That's not entirely a good thing either though, because Microsoft can stifle creativity and overlook features simply because it didn't think of developing them, and has no incentive to research new things because of lack of ... more.

Because the government doesn't enforce the act upon some organizations, and has relaxed the act since it's conception!

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
