Why wasn't the capital of New York State kept in New York City instead of moving it to Albany?

It originally was New Amsterdam, then the British conquered and it was changed from New Amsterdam to New York in honor of The Duke Of York. I'm not sure about the rest but you can obviously learn it in school, so good luck everyone who needs this question answered!

In 1791, George Washington commissioned architect Pierre l'Enfant to build a capital city. The idea was to not have it in any state (District of Columbia is not a state, guys... the country only has 50, not 51, states) so no state could say they had any special privilege in this area. The city wasn't finished until after Washington's death, so it was named after him.

Originally, the District of Columbia was made from the states of Maryland and Virginia. A few years after the city was put up, the Virginia section went bact to that state and became Arlington County. This is the site of Fort Myer, the Pentagon, and the Arlington National Cemetery.

Why should the biggest city be the capital, anyway?

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
