Why weren't the immigrants who entered through Ellis Island questioned about their legal status?

I know more about the Ellis Island and the immigrant history of my hometown of NYC than you do and as such I know that you don't know what you're talking about I know for instance that in 1908 my paternal grandfather was a 18 year old illegal immigrant in NYC on the lam from Greece bc he killed the guy that molested his fiancé.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
