Why won't my burned cd play in my stereo?

I burned several cd's on my computer and they play fine but they won't play in my car or stereo. Asked by susiecheesecake 58 months ago Similar questions: burned cd play stereo Computers > Hardware > Desktops & Laptops.

There are several reasons that a Burnt CD may not play on other stereo equipment. First, do not use a CD-RW cd to record music to be played in a car stereo, home stereo, boombox, etc. Often times this will not work as these cd's are quite a bit less reflective than the CD-R's, and the lasers in your stereo equipment may not be powerful enough to read the CD-RW's. You also want to make sure that when you are done recording your music to a CD that you close the session.

Oftentimes people will leave the recording session open, so that they can add more music to the CD later. However, until the session is closed or finalized, the CD will not be able to be read by anything but the computer. Finally, make sure that the format of the music you are recording to your CD is compatible with your other equipment (car stereo, home stereo, etc. ) Mp3's will only play on stereo equipment made to play mp3's.

Older stereo equipment obviously will not play newer audio formats. Most recently made stereo's will play RW CD's, but older ones (even just a few years old) often times will not! Sources: My opinion from experience and work related exposure.

You likely burned it incorrectly, or the CD players don't support burned disks My first thought is that the CD players don’t play burned CDs, or you burned them as data CDs rather than audio CDs. Here’s what Microsoft has to say on the matter. If one of these is your problem, on the website listed in my sources, it also has possible fixes.

Why doesn’t the CD player in my car play the CDs that I burn? Your CD player might not be able to play the CD for several reasons, including the following: • It can only play audio CDs and you have burned a data CD. Data CDs can be played only in your computer and in some newer CD players.

When creating data CDs, the Player burns your WMA and MP3 files to the CD in their current format without converting them for an audio CD. Consequently, the CD player that you use to play a data CD must be able to play WMA or MP3 files. • It can play data CDs, but can’t play the type of files that are burned on your data CD.(For example, it can play WMA files but not MP3 files.) • It can play data CDs, but can’t play protected files (for example, you burned a licensed WMA file that you purchased from an online store to your data CD).

• It can play data CDs, but can’t play the particular brand or type of disc that you used. • It can’t play data CDs that have not been finalized. Sources: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/knowledgecenter/mediaadvice/0091.mspx .

Be sure you burned it as an audio CD, not data; also some CD-R blanks just refuse to work If you burn music files to a CD in data format, the computer will recognize it but CD players can't cope. Depending on the software you used, there may be a option at some point for data CD or audio CD, be sure you choose the audio CD format. Also, if you write mp3 format files, most CD players can't cope.

I avoid these problems by using JetAudio software to burn audio CDs; the basic version is free. If you get past the above obstacles, there can be problems with the blank CDs. I once bought a spindle of Sony CD-Rs that simply could not be made into playable audio CDs.

I have no idea why. I tried and failed multiple times, then I tried the same burn process again with a Memorex CD-R and it worked fine. Go figure.

THAT SUCKS! You have to get new players that accept burned cd's... I'm sorry that I can't be as technical as my computer geek husband...I'm certain there are enough geeks on this board to give it to you in techie mumble jumbo. Here's the laywoman's answer: It won't work because your equiptment won't accept it as real.It totally sucks!

But, new equiptment is super cheap so save up. Our "old" (4yrs) Dvd player did the same thing...our new one plays everything. Same with our carousel Cd player vs. our new shelf system.

Not all stereos play mp3s you probably burned it as mp3s and not all stereo systems can convert the mp3s.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
