Why won't my computer recognize my WD 1tb external hard drive anymore?

Do a simple test to find out if it is left in an open state, which is some thing that happens to USB devices. Have it plugged in when you boot the computer. Wait a minute and shut down the computer.

Disconnect the USB device and boot back up. Wait a minute and plug it back in. If every thing is fine and working again, it was left in an open state.

People should unplug USB devices when the computer is shut down and turned off in order to avoid an open state condition with USB devices. This is not shared common knowledge.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
