Yes, MySpace is also a social network. All sites where users can interact with other users in order to share information is considered a social network. MySpace was started as a social network focusing on bands and music which is whey you are able to upload original music to the site and even share it with others via download.

Facebook outpaced MySpace as the prime social networking site due the strict rules against pornographic material and the close monitoring of inappropriate photos or advertisements. This has helped people keep their profiles private and feel more secure in sharing information over the website. There is much less phishing and spamming on the Facebook platform.

The site tries to keep strict control over the way advertising is handled in order to keep the traffic growing without the intrusion of promotional materials.
