Would you call in sick to work if you experienced a severe case of seasonal allergies?

I think it's perfectly legitimate. While part of staying home is avoiding getting anyone else sick, and you are not contagious, the main purpose of sick days is allowing your body to rest and recuperate when you're too sick to work. If you cannot perform the basic functions of your job in a competent way, you should stay home.

Going to work miserable, spending half of your day taking care of yourself, is not worth it. You won't do a good job, and you may even need to redo things the next day. You may as well stay home and rest, and not be a distraction to everyone else.

I believe that is exactly what sick days are for. A chance to medicate yourself and stay in the bed trying to feel better. The allergy medicines can make you too sleepy to go to work.

People with allergies would totally empathize with you.

Would and have. I rarely get bad allergy attacks, but when I do, all I can do is go to bed. I usually can take a Benadryl, go to sleep for a few hours, and be o.k.

I have never missed more than a half day from work due to an attack.

After having to drag myself out of bed yesterday and realizing I couldn’t call in sick to work (we had too many people on vacation because of the holiday), I decided to stop off at one of the stores to find something to take for it. Most of the brands I found that fit my symptoms also caused drowsiness; something I obviously could not have while at work. So, after some indecision, I ended up buying a box of Sudafed PE.

The reason why it took some thought before buying this product is I have used it in the past, when sick with a cold, and had no luck with it. The pills didn’t make me drowsy. But, they also did not help with my symptoms; at least not enough for me to feel more like myself.

When I purchased it yesterday, it was pretty much out of desperation and I honestly didn’t expect it to work. However, it turns out I was wrong. I ended up taking a couple Sudafed when I got to work in the morning (I believe the box says to take just one but they are so small I found it hard to believe one would do anything).

About 30 minutes after I took them, I started to feel a difference. I was still blowing my nose and my eyes were a bit watery.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
