Well, consider this. Al Qaeda was set up by America, so if they are motivated by religion, it was still America's meddling that led to the organization being formed and then becoming consumed by religion and attacking America. America has backed the likes of Saddam Hussein, Mubarak, Gadaffi (last 5 years and back in the beginning), Augusto Pinochet, Pol Pot, Duvalier, Ferdinand Marcos, King Fahd, Pervez Musharaff, Chiang Kai Shek, Shah Reza of Iran, Osama Bin Laden, Ariel Sharon, Batista, and on and on. They've sponsored such organizations as the IRA, Chechen rebels, the Taliban, the Khmer Rouge and on and on.
Is it any wonder why America has enemies? Imagine you're a 50 year old Iraqi. If so, you've lived long enough to have seen America install the dictator Saddam Hussein as your leader.
To see America dictate the laws of your country. To see them invade your country and kill your family members. To see the devastating social effects of America's sanctions and invasions.
You probably make half the money today that you did 30 years ago, you have no electricity, you have no job, maybe no running water, your streets are overrun with factional fighting and this is all due to America's constant interference. So what can you do? Any leader of Iraq was put there by America and will not represent you.
He will either take money and orders from America or he will fight America and America will invade and do even more damage. Now tell me, if you were Iraqi, would you love America? Would your opinion have much to do with religion?
Some of their problem can be seen in the behaviour of a drug addict suffering from withdrawal symptoms. The Arabs are seeing an end to their influence as the world moves away from oil. Al-Qaida is the rudest part of this process, they are seeking to extend the influence of the Arab world by any means possible in my view.
I also think there are no peaceful Muslim's. You're correct about the motives. Islam has always been looking to take out non believers and, by the way assume their belongings.
I may have been a Templar in a previous life, would love the chance to pick up my sword and shield again and free the holy lands. Party on.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
