Not sure what you are trying to achieve functionally. You might get away with doing it in code. Create a higher level class, CellClass, that has a property DisplayValue.

With implementation for date and string. Bind Source to the CellClass with Path=DisplayValue. You can even create List CellClasses and Bind to CellClass0, CellClass1 ... In know this works as I do it but I not sure if it provides the functionality you are looking for.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
