75 years ago would it have been hate speech to accuse Germans of leading us into war?

They are one of the biggest problems the world is currently facing.

My Grandfather came here as a very young man in the mid 1930's , when WW2 broke out he received death threats was beaten in his front yard and his Studebaker was set on fire . He didn't deserve any of it , many Muslims however do.
