Oh boy. Here goes. I'm white and I have a big problem with the media.
They may not outright say that they hate a certain group of people, but it is implied by showing little girls that only one image is beautiful. It's not only about race either. It's about weight distribution, height, everything.
The beauty industry is quite literally designed with the purpose of making girls hate themselves. I know you don't see it because you're a guy and you haven't had to go through it which I'm of course not blaming you for. I'm glad the media doesn't do the same to guys that they do to girls.
But the photoshop culture absolutely massacres any shred of self confidence most girls have. They not only say one image is acceptable- the image they portray is unattainable. We are expected to be either stick thin, or stick thin with a big butt and big boobs.
And not only that, the media makes women out to be sex objects. The idea that women are sexualized for our own products is strange to me. Like take victoria's secret.
Their ads are extremely sexual most of the time. No normal, non eating disordered, non plastic surgereyed, non photoshopped woman will usually look that way. And then the women are sprawled out, looking like little sex toys rather than women.
Yet they are trying to sell me a bra. Why would that appeal to a woman? It doesn't.
But it does make a woman reflect on her own body type and hate it enough to make her think that buying that product will fulfill her or make her more sexy or more beautiful. There is not a single good intention in those type of things. Thank god for companies like Dove turning this around.
But it is a huge problem really. And back to the skin tone - even when black girls are used in ads, they are almost never dark skinned, and Asian girls are rarely used in ads without being fetishized. I am glad that you asked this question and are interestd to know.
It is so important that more men and women see this epidemic.
The answer to your question is in your question. Knowing what anything seems to be is not knowledge.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
