Am I crazy? I just bought a guitar and I have no clue where to start?

Try playing a major scale like this:Fret 12,11,9,7,5,4,2,0 (open string)Will work on any string, but start with string 1 (thinnest string) If you break it up into two sections it's easier to learn.

I was in the same position you were in about 2 years ago. I still kind suck at guitar but I have been teaching myself so I guess no one can blame me, right? Lol The best thing you can do is learn to read tabs.

Tabs are the easy equivalent to sheet music but in cheat sheet form. If you go to Ultimate-Guitar. Com they offer TONS of free tabs provided by users on the site.

You can create a profile, chat to other users on the forums or just learn to play. When you find a song, they usually tell you what level experience you need to play the song, and some songs if they are posted in chords hovering your mouse over the highlighted area will show you a pop up of how to play that chord by where to place your fingers... also a chord chart is a good thing to have. You can pick one up in poster size to hang on your wall... they run about 5-6 bucks and you can get them at walmart or the mall...Also some people offer tutorials on Youtube.. Marty Schwartz has some awesome videos and you can find his page youtube.com/user/martyzsongs...I have learned a lot from watching his stuff.... My first recommendation is to find a guitar teacher and sign up for a few lessons. Take a lesson once a week for a month and see how it goes. If you don't want to make the financial commitment try this below:Buy a a guitar tuner.

The kind that you can plug your guitar cord into. Then go on youtube to find a video that shows how to tune a guitar so it sounds good. Then buy a beginner's guitar book.

I really like "My First Guitar" by Mike Christiansen. It's kind of geared towards kids but it works well with beginner adults as well. What I like about it is that the strings are colored so it's easy to memorize the names of the strings and where to place your fingers in order to play chords.

The book also introduces both tab and reading notes. Again, the book uses colors for the notes so you can learn faster. I love it!

Congratulations! Guitar is a wonderful instrument. If you don't want to take lessons, which is a good way to learn, you can start teaching yourself with any book that shows what some basic chords look like.

Take some lessons, buy some books for beginners, and look up videos and other resources online.

Well first look up how to tune the guitar =P Follow that with searching for tabs and how to use them. A good program using tabs is called "Tabledit" and I find tabs written with that program tend to be more accurate. The best resource is yourself though.

You have to keep motivated and want to continue learning even when progress seems slow, and it will at first. Don't give up and you will continue to learn and improve. Developing hand and finger strength takes awhile too so do not feel discouraged if you are unable to play perfectly without any buzzing noises at first.

After you are more comfortable playing your guitar you can look for teachers and specific books so you can focus more on the instruction than learning to use a guitar.

Learning how to play the guitar was probably one of the best things I've ever done. You don't have to be "amazing" to learn some of the best songs and have fun with your friends singing around a campfire. Buy yourself a chord book (any music store will have them) and learn these chords :D, C, G, Am, Em, E, and F.

With those you can play just about any song out there (it's true). Pick a simple song with 2 or 3 of those chords and start to sing it, just strumming the chord once when there is a chord change. Once you get faster at switching between the chords, you'll be able to learn a few strum patterns.

From there you can play, have fun, learn more chords, and expand your song base. Good luck and have fun!

Not crazy at all...that's the best way to start. You need to pick up a chords sheet and just start learning how to play chords. You'll actually be surprised at how many amazing songs you can play just by learning some of the easiest and most simple chords.

Just don't get discouraged because it's definitely something you need to stick to.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
