Well first off, you have to understand that women did this to themselves, too. The traditional ignorance, stereotyping, and social conditioning that made men considered superior so is so deeply embedded in our human history that of course it's impossible to pinpoint the exact moment men were made to be more dominant and why. But women aren't victims here.
For hundreds of years, when men decided to be in charge, women didn't fight it and just adopted their role. They did what they were told, endured unhappy, abusive marriages, bore as many children as the husband wished, didn't speak unless they were spoken to. But eventually, women remembered that they're humans, not pets, and there grew a burning desire to be considered people.
Which is why the struggle for women's rights came about. Women were property. They were sex toys, maids, cooks, mothers, and nannies.
Back in those days, the relationship between a man and a woman was a partnership, for (in most cases) romance didn't exist. Marriage was between the husband and the woman's father, without any say from the woman, because it was a business deal, like selling cattle. The amount of children was entirely up to the husband.
There was no divorce, so there was no reason to keep the woman happy. All that was between her and her husband was reproduction, social status, and coexistence. Most couples never came to love each other; they only tolerated one another.
And it was because women believed it when they were told that they couldn't read, or that they couldn't have property, or that they didn't matter. Now, the moment at which women decided they didn't want to be oppressed anymore was the moment at which society's traditional treatment of women became wrong, and when they became victims. When that epiphany of equality came about, many men (and even a few traditional women) attempted to stifle it.
But while males were born with the confidence of being on top of the world simply for being a man, women wanted it enough to take it for themselves, and it's that amazing strength and fight that proves their equality.
Women had natural gender roles, which just happened to be the gender that is naturally oppressed. If you look in the animal kingdom, you'll see the same thing. So really, it isn't surprising that in the past women (as humans/animals) were oppressed.
There are a lot of things that occur in the natural world that now humans, with our intellect and societal/moral values, have decided are not just. Therefore, as a society, we were able to reduce oppression against women. Nowadays, at least in western countries, women and men are pretty equal in rights.
So instead of hating on the past, we should really be thankful that our species has become so advanced that we can overcome our natural instincts and become morally responsible people. I didn't do a very good job at explaining that. Basically, life isn't fair so we should be grateful that we have rights now.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
