This is just a guess... but I think it possible the 'government' (whatever that is...) might be fearful that if the population at large were allowed (encouraged) to go about their business armed with blunderbusses under their raincoats, or socks full of gravel in their pockets... we might end up with some sort of anarchic model of instant justice, based on the same amount of thought that goes into deciding who to vote for on the X-Factor. It is a fundamental problem with violence. It tends not to be thought through.
When the people have had enough of living on their knees they will strike, demonstrate and riot as in other third world countries. They will be easier to control if they have no weapons. Recent events show people can no longer afford to subsidise banks and big business moving billions of untaxed money to offshore accounts, tax loopholes for the rich ,obscene wages and mass immigration. As the government regimeare part of this greedy, selfish culture they will do nothing .
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
