Are female cats in pain when in,heat? Its her first heat?

No they are not in pain, though they may sound like it. :) They are, um, yearning, is all. You can get her spayed right now, but because being in heat complicates the surgery a bit, most vets will charge more.

Otherwise, if you can hold out until she is out of heat, you can get her spayed then. Meanwhile, be sure to keep her inside (and even if she is an inside cat, she is going to try very hard to get outside, so be very careful! )Katherine .

Aww thanks sooooooo much I felt sooo bad that my bebe was in pain. She started yesterday how long does it take to be done in heat? Jessa thanks for writing back so qick Bebestar 2 months ago .

She'll be fine, though you may not be after a week of her yowling, lol! Here is an article about cats in heat. Please do tell me that you are planning to have her spayed very soon?KatPS.

It is really important that she not get pregnant this young! Dangerous for the cat and the kittens. Think of a 10-year-old girl; just because she can get pregnant, as soon as she starts having menstrual periods, doesn't mean it is safe or healthy for her!

Htm.

Ooohhh no she is going to get spaded our vet told us to wait till she has 1 or 2 heats... This is our kid and the last cat we got was from the pound and the made us spade before we took her and, she, was only 4 weeks it broke my heart this kitty her name is,Bebe were wanted to do it after herfirst heat at least thanks for the info she was making me sad yellin the way she has been, allday Jess Bebestar 2 months ago .

I would search out a new vet to be honest --- it is proven that dogs and cats are much healthier if they are spayed before they ever have a heat cycle and there is absolutely no benifit to allowing them to go through heat cycles before surgery --- also so you know cats will basically stay in heat until they are bred so they don't have heat cycles like dogs do --- cats will be in full heat for 1- 2 weeks then go out for a short time then come right back in heat --- and with cats the surgery is not that much more difficult while they are in heat so I would do it as soon as you can .

Wow that's disapointing that my vet lied ill look for a,new vet thank you very much Bebestar 2 months ago .

Thanks for bring that to my attention Bebestar 2 months ago .

Don't know that he lied as much as gave you his opinion --- there are vets that still think dogs and cats need to go through heat cycles before being altered or have to be a certain age but research has shown no heats is best and younger is better .

Thank you very much ill be watching her closly and, make sure, she stays inside, shes a,indoor kitty as soon as she, stops, her yelling and,not to,be weird but puttin, her, but,in the air ill,get her spaded thanks again u,have, been,a, great help Bebestar 2 months ago .

Ditto Caseycat, she's not in pain, but please please keep her inside and safe, she is way to young to have kittens, it can cause hip damage, and mentally she just isn't ready, she's still a baby herself. Please have her spayed as soon as possible. In seven years, one female cat and her offspring can theoretically produce 420,000 cats.

If your female cat does not mate, she will go into oestrus (heat) as often as every two to three weeks, for several months each year, until she either mates or is spayed. She will stay in heat for @ 7-10 days. Shelters spay at 8 weeks all the time so kittens can be adopted out.

I have had ALL of my cats spayed at @ 8 weeks, none of them had any problems, non were sprayers. I had 1 male that I waited until he was 1 year, he WAS a sprayer, the sooner you can spay the less likely She is old enough now to be spayed, petstyle.com/ask-the-vet/how-long-do-cat... com/ask-the-vet/how-long-do-cats-stay-heat.

Thanks I just wanted to give her 1 heat before I spaded her, I heard its good for her development.. I appreciate your advice and expertiese ;) Bebestar 2 months ago .

You're welcome,>>>That's an old wives tale, no truth to it at all. There is absolutely NO physical or mental reason that they need to go through a heat cycle or have a litter before spaying them.

I got my cats done before their first heat. I do think it is painful as people for them.

I bet she gets cramps like all the women do. Poor babies.
