Of course they can't. Their JOB is to defuse protests. That's what liberals are FOR.
And their wealthy sponsors know that if the liberals fail to herd potential radicals back into capitalism's corral, the right-wingers are always available to break skulls. It's the old "good cop/bad cop" thing.
They're just trying to deflect/dodge responsibility for their own HUGE roles in creating and maintaining this depression, by trying to pander with them and convince them "No, we're on YOUR side! It's all the corporations fault!" Hopefully the OWS is smart enough to know that there couldn't have been a Housing Bubble without the Federal Reserve's interventions, and that the bail-outs of the "too big to fail" folks with our tax dollars couldn't be done without the Government there to do it; and to remember that Obama did in 2008 return to the Senate (along with John McCain) during his presidential campaign to vote FOR the bail-outs.
He receives enough money from Wall Street that I really do hope that the protesters realize Obama is and only ever has been their friend and ally, and any carefully-worded endorsements for the movement against them is just a disingenuous attempt at covering his own butt.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
