Are you impressed by Republicans taking liberal prom dates, sitting with liberals tonight at the Obama speech?

I'm not sure anymore what motivates Rush Limbaugh, or Glenn Beck for that matter, other than repressed self-loathing. Of course, he gets paid huge amounts of money for being controversial, so one has to also wonder if he actually believes even half of the stuff he spews or just says what he knows will stir people up and keep people talking (or listening). His dad is a Supreme Court judge in St. Louis (my original home town), and I'm curious about Rush's relationship with both his mom and his dad.

His weight problem seems to suggest low self-esteem and/or depression cycle, and his drug addiction may stem from a need to numb his feelings of guilt, as well as the self-loathing he tries so hard to hide even from himself. This brings one to wonder why Republicans give him so much power and control over their ideas and opinions. What's the attraction?

I think he's what we call a "bottom-feeder"---feeding off of people's anger or outrage and taking a bully's delight in saying something outrageous and untrue just to see his target squirm and struggle. Eliciting frustrated furies from innocent people is as much an addiction for Rush as is Oxycontin, I bet. This inspires me to wonder, then, if the Republicans who hang on his every word and deed are simply drawn to his meanness because the pattern matches some hidden pattern within them that they are afraid of expressing...so they live vicariously through Rush's projected expressions of hate-mongering ugliness and yet still have sanctimonious "deniability" if they need to appear nice to win an election or impress a lobbyist.

This is one theory anyway. Since there was nothing wrong with President Obama's brief speech, the Republican naysayers and Obama haters may, indeed, wait until they can parrot the litany of derisive attacks from their party's current leader, Rush Limbaugh.

I've heard a lot of Obama's speeches. What he says in his speeches doesn't always translate into his reality. I'll judge him on his actions.

So far, I'm unimpressed with his dealings with terrorists and national security. He reads a mean teleprompter though, if you can get past the bobble head that looks like he's watching a ping-pong match.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
