I'm in the market for a new washer, but the front loaders aren't doing it for me. I use my washer to soak quilts and the like, and I check the contents all the time. Obviously that isn't something you can do with a front loader.
You can't touch the wash until the thing empties. Any opinions on this? And if you're a fan of the top loading washing machines, do you have any opinions on a good one?

Front Loaders get clothes much cleaner without the wear and tear that a top loader with an agitator gives I loved my top loader too. And I usually made sure that the laundry was being soaked in the water and all was going well during the wash cycle. Especially when I washed my king sized down comforter, I stood guard with an old baseball bat to make sure the air pockets were doused with plenty of hot water.
I loved the fact that in the agitator I had a lint catcher that would isolate the cat fur from my clothes and linens. None of the front loaders and even the new top loaders have that benefit any more. So I clung to my washer like a treasured child, even though I had to fill it with a hose twice during the wash cycle.
The valves got calcified shut. My husband kept after me to replace that 20 year old washer, so we went shopping and we both surfed the Internet and Consumer Reports for the latest poop about washing machines. I decided to buy an LG steam washer and dryer, since this was probably the last one I would ever buy.
I absolutely love it. The steam is sprayed on the clothes on the top while on the bottom (of the drum) the clothes soak in cold water. I can hear but not see the steam through the window on the door.
This morning I washed our sheets which were spotted with blood from my husband's arm where a sore broke open during the night. When I put them in the dryer, there was no sign of stain. I didn't use any bleach and everything came out good and clean. In addition, the high speed spin cycle extracts more water out of the clothes which shortens the drying time.
Another thing, Consumer Reports said that the top loaders don't clean as well as they did, because of government restrictions on water conservation. Yeah, I can't touch the clothes while the cycle is going, but I can see them tumbling in the water. In fact, when I just got my washer, my poor little kitty cat was on her way to the litter box, and did a double take when she saw the clothes moving back and forth in the washer. With the new front loaders, you will find that you don't need to soak your heavy quilts.
Think of the front loader as a hand washer. When I wash clothes by hand, especially fragile items, I place them in the water and lift and squeeze the item so the soap and water penetrates all over. The front loader system does that for you.
You also save detergent with the front loader. I use about a third as much detergent in the new washer. Sources: my humble experience patti1937's Recommendations LG SteamWasher Series WM0001HTMA 27" Front-Load Steam Washer with 4.2 cu.
Ft. Capacity, 9 Wash Programs, Spin Speed of 1320 RPMs and Blue LCD Display: Stainless Steel My husband said, "Here is your new toy. " I said, "This my laundry woman.

Several advantages Less water Less detergent (although HE detergent is more expensive and harder to find) Gentler on fabrics (no central agitator grabbing and stretching or tearing the fabric) Doesn't become unbalanced with improperly distributed or heavy loads Larger capacity (no agitator) so fewer loads and again less water, detergent and energy Removes more water during spin, so shorter drying time equals less energy May be more easily stackable I'm not upon the current market for these units, ours is a 10 year old Maytag Neptune, so I can make a recommendation.
If you drink or do drugs then watching the clothing and soap go around on a front loader can be a nearly psychedelic experience. Take brightly colored clothing, a little detergent, and a couple of good belts of whiskey, and sit down in front. It's awesome..
Front loaders seem to "work" better. It is my personal experience that a front loader does less damage to the clothes, causes less "knotting" of the washing, and less creasing. You could let the water out of the machine to check on the washing you are soaking (ie, be able to touch it) .
You will be happier with a top loader! I have a Maytag Neptune front loader. There is a definite defect in the design of the machine. It always has a mildew/unpleasant smell!
All of the water doesn’t spin out in the spin cycle, thus the odor. I contacted the company and they are aware of the problem and sent me a dishwashing type stuff to run through a cycle. It is only a very temporary fix, at best. My washer is 2 years old so they may have fixed that problem by now.
I have mixed feelings about the front loader. I like that it takes considerably less water for a load, sensing the size of the load and filling accordingly. But I, like you, want to be able to have access to the wash load for various reasons.
You can’t do that with the front loading machines. My Consumer Reports Buying Guide gives the Whirlpool top-loading model Cabrio HE the top rating with the Kenmore Elite Oasis HE coming in second. Both are in the $1,000. Range..

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
