Can I buy a wireless router to transmit my current broadband or do I have to upgrade to a wireless package with my isp?

I currently get broadband from tesco for about £18 a month. If I want to go wireless I have to purchase a more expensive package. Can I just buy a router at one off cost and continue with my tesco broadband package?

Buy a wireless router to transmit my current broadband or upgrade to a wireless package with my isp I have a Netgear wgr614 v5 router connected to a westell modem. Everything was working fine until I changed a couple settings in my netgear configuration page like the UPnP and dhcp. The internet was still working after that, and then I rebooted my laptop.

I had limited connectivity to the router and could not access the internet. I tried to connect my laptop directly to the router via an ethernet cord and typed 192.168.1.1 into the address bar of my browser. It did not connect, so I reset my router.

Now the wireless light on the front of the router is not lit, and it's not transmitting any wireless signal. When I try to access the routers default access config it says that i'm connected to my router and that it's going to guide me through the configuration settings. I press ok, and it tries to check for an internet connection, which there is none, because there is no wireless signal and I cannot connect to the modem while i'm still connected to the router through ethernet.

Turn off the WIFI connection in the laptop first. Don't use wireless to reconfigure the router! Just plug in the LAN cable between your laptop and router and then go through the little wizard it has.

Make sure the router is plugged into the modem. Essentially, the more expensive package is renting a wireless router from tesco. I use a satellite internet connection, run the signal into my office on a dedicated Ethernet line, and run a wireless/wired network from there.(my printer and laptop dock are plugged in, but I can move my laptop elsewhere and run wireless.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
