Can I hook my MacBook to my company intranet?

Yes a MacBook does have network capability. With your MacBook, you can connect to your company’s intranet, or you can also create a network with your MacBook as the access point. Normally, to connect a computer to an intranet, most companies have an application to allow users to connect to the internet at the click of a button.

This application is usually only made available to Windows users. However, if you are a Mac user, you can still connect to your company’s intranet. You will need the intranet address for this.

Open Network Preferences on your MacBook (either by going to System Preferences or by clicking the WiFi icon on your menu bar). Click the + sign and select the interface (usually either VPN or PPoE). Give your new connection a name.

The VPN type is usually either L2TP or PPTP. Key in the server address, your intranet user name, and under Authentication Settings, key in your intranet password.
