Can I Run a ATI Radeon HD 5670 1GB GPU (graphics card) on a standard 300w PSU (power supply)?

Maybe, maybe not. In most computers the HD 5670 requires at least 350 watts- the published 400W minimum is inflated above what's usually needed, but not by a whole lot. It depends upon the power draw of your computer's other components, and the quality of your psu.

All power supplies of a given wattage rating are NOT equal- some are much better than others. If your computer has a low power draw processor (like a Sempron or Core i3) and a small amount of RAM (like 2gb) then a 300W psu might work fine. If your psu is a high-quality one from a company like Seasonic or Antec, you'll probably be fine.

If it's a cheap off-brand like Logisys or Broadway Com, not a chance. The big issue for graphics cards really isn't total wattage but the number of amps a power supply provides on the +12V rails. Most computers with a Radeon HD 5670 installed have a total power draw below 250 watts.

http://www.techspot.com/review/240-ati-r... However, your psu needs to support at least 22-25 amps on the +12V rails, which most 300W units don't. If a psu doesn't support enough +12V amps, being in the clear on total watts doesn't matter- graphics cards draw from the +12V line specifically. The safest bet is to upgrade your psu.

Or you could choose the GeForce GT440 instead, which is just a little slower than the Radeon HD 5670 but has a lower power draw. The GT440 only requires a 300W psu. http://www.eggxpert.com/forums/thread/32... http://www.guru3d.com/article/his-radeon... Update The 2gb model probably would NOT work... the more video memory a card has, the higher it's power draw.

512mb versions of the HD 5670 have the best shot. By the way, having 2gb of video memory on a 5670 is completely useless because that GPU isn't fast enough to play games at super-high resolutions where having that much video memory affects anything.

Sure it will. A 300w psu will just work fine with the card. I use the same card on my system.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
