Yes, the Aspire One supports Windows XP and even Office 2007, Microsoft Office is one of the most mature software soluti Yes, the Aspire One supports Windows XP and even Office 2007, Microsoft Office is one of the most mature software solutions from Microsoft or anyone else. Microsoft strives to make it "compatible" and suitable for as many people possible and will eventually make it easier for blind and retired hookers to even use. With that being said, you can install Office onto a working version of Windows or Mac OS with different options including a "minimal" build which strives to use as little disk space as possbile but will interrupt itself whenever you attempt to use a feature you didn't initally install.

Whether or not Office is better than Open Office is a religous debate that will last longer than conflict in the middle east, I personally prefer Open Office but Open Office isn't 100% compatible with all the formatting features of MS Office created / modified files. Open Office is only 99.5% compatible and it fails when it comes to worthless weirdo charts made and embedded from Excel spreadsheets or hyperactive and customized bullets created with Microsoft Word.

1 I thought that one had an option to run XP home. If it does, you can run MS Office. Otherwise, you're stuck with open source.

2 There is no MS Office version that will run on Linux. (And "open source" doesn't mean "linux-compatible. " There are many open-source titles for Windows, and there are many closed-source titles for Linux.)OpenOffice is supposed to be a worthy (and free) alternative to MS Office.

We are investigating it for our organization. I am surprised you dislike it so much. Can you say what you don't like about it?
