About your second point: I'd rather have my face melt off and then go to heaven than never know for sure and end up in Hell (assuming that such places exist). So, even that argument doesn't really make sense. Why would this god be squeamish about harming you by seeing him, but not at all squeamish about burning you alive for all eternity?
Makes no sense.
The thing about God is that you cannot disprove him because his entire existence is based on faith, something which cannot be seen, documented or calculated. It's equivalent to a child's imaginary friend. In fact I view religion as rather childish.
I mean, all it does is tell you what is acceptable by societal standards and what is not. God acts like a parent, overseeing us, and hell is where you are grounded to if you don't listen. People need to grow up and realize they are responsible for their lives.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
