Magicjack is a new VOIP (voice over internet protocol) service. The creator, Dan Borislow, developed a usb plugin device that allows you to make phone calls over your high-speed internet service. For only $40 for the first year you get unlimited calls, anywhere in the US and then it’s only $20 per year after that!

Sounds great, doesn’t it? Maybe you better read my review before running out and purchasing one. I was a SunRocket customer.

They were great until they suddenly folded without notice. I wasn’t happy with that at all! I thought about going back to a traditional phone service or even getting it through my cable provider but the prices they want are ridiculous.

It would be smarter to upgrade my cell phone than pay what they want. Anyways, I still wanted to get a “land line” of some sorts. I searched the internet and found a new company, MagicJack.

They were still in beta at the time but sounded very promising. The company says all the right things like, we have our own network, it’s as easy as 1-2-3, just plug and play, crystal clear calling, but is it true? I purchased a MagicJack usb device just after sunrocket died.

That’s been well over 6 months now and I’ve been using Magic Jack ever since.. . Well, I really shouldn’t say I’ve been using it ever since. I’ve really only been using it when it works, and there is the problem.

It simply doesn’t work all the time. First experiences with MagicjackWhen I first got the Magicjack it was amazing. The sound was crystal clear.

In fact it was too clear. You could hear everything on the other end. It worked, easy plug and play.

Never had any dropped phone calls, nothing seemed to be wrong with it. I recommended it to friends who also purchased it. Then I started seeing down time on weekends.

I figured, it’s still in beta and I’m sure they are just working on the system. They didn’t warn anyone when it would happened but it was always a weekend. It started happening more and more.

Then it started happening on weekdays. Then other strange things started happening. The voice mail wouldn’t work.

I couldn’t check it and people couldn’t leave a message. People would call and I would answer, I could hear them but they couldn’t hear me. Calls would just drop for no reason.

All kinds of strange things started happening more and more. This was around January of 2008. Friends that had also purchased the MagicJack told me they were having the same problems, they’ve all dumped the MagicJack.

I started checking the forum but magicjack removed it. Now you have to go to the magicjack unofficial forum?!?!? I’ve heard that the official forum was removed because there were so many people discussing the problems.

Well, there are still problems. I checked everything I could but found no solution only the fact that others were having problems also. Dan Barislow - Founder and Inventor of Magic JackFinally, I found Dan Barislow’s email and wrote him a long email.

Amazingly he got back to me asap. He, of course, disagreed with my assessment that the product didn’t function well however, he did have his tech call. The tech told me the problem sounded like a router problem.

We did some forwarding on the router but that didn’t help and it didn’t explain why the MagicJack worked perfectly for the first few months and now like crap! I fired off another email to Dan after a few weeks of trial with no improvement. Oh, Dan had also said he was going to ship me the new hardware... Well, I’ve never seen it an it’s been months.

Anyway, after my last email discussing the continued problems with magic jack I haven’t heard anything.. . And it has been a few months. Magicjack Pros and ConsWhy don’t I just make a good list of pros and cons for the MagicJack.

Doesn’t always work 2. Voice mail is sporadic 3. Clarity is very poor 4.

Must have your computer on in order to use it. 5. Requires high-speed internet.6.

MagicJack is in fact somewhat magic, and as such, you should buy it. In terms of computers, electronics, and computer accessories, nothing beats the MagicJack. It faxes so easily, you'll have no problems at all.

Ingenious magicjack still has a few kinks Pros: It works. Cons: Intermittent "black-outs" in which neither party can hear the other. The Bottom Line: For the price, it's fine for a PC.

Option to change telephone number (free first time, after that $10).Etc. Cons: Initially (first couple of days) the audio was garbled. An auto update resolved the problem.

Customer Service is via e-chat (not telephone); however, customer service is swift and proficient. Note: It is not necessary to connect a telephone if you use a headset. In my opinion, a headset works better.

She has to use her cell phone for most of her calls because it's not possible to conduct business when she knows that the calls will be cut off within minutes of connecting. In addition to these problems, all calls made into her number are charged as long distance calls.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
