As kids we made them every year. My folks usually took the week around christmas off (except by appointment) so we had time to do things like that. Now, I'm doing good to even get any shopping done.

I don't make cookies anymore due to being Celiac...even clay may have gluten...but I enjoy seeing it and all the traditions that make life fun. I did shopping all year...even at garage sales so I am done and they are sent out. I am trying to stay out of stores even though the price discounts are great!

It doesn't feel like Christmas except my neighbors have outside lights and Christmas shows are on TV. We don't have much snow...light dusting. I am enjoying the Wizard of Oz tonight which we always watched once a year when I was young and didn't have videos/DVD's to see it any time.

I love to see creativity. I think all kids would really enjoy making a gingerbread house. Thanks!

I think it might have been the sugar that stopped us. We had a neighbor who was a professional decorator; so she taught all the neighborhood kids to do gingerbread houses and some other confections.

Never as a child myself, but we did do one a couple times with my daughter. It was fun--but we "cheated" and used a kit so we just had to do the fun part--assemble it and decorate it with candy! It wasn't anything really special or with a theme--just lots of candy stuck on the house!

If it was for a contest it would be a lot of fun to go with a theme and get specific candy to add to the design.

It is ok...still can be fun. Just keep making things each year maybe...keep the creativity going. Happiness.... Shasha 8 days ago .

Yes, it's still fun! Being together with a project, especially one that involves food, is always fun! .

Just came across these--some really detailed houses! http://www.cooking.com/recipes-and-more/Gingerbread-house-photo-gallery.aspx?ref=http%253A%252F%252Fpinterest%252Ecom%252Fpin%252F70791025362353531%252F&ref=http%3A%2F%2Fpinterest%2Ecom%2Fpin%2F182818066093236511%2F aspx? Let's have some fun! What's your favorite character (Disney, Nickolodeon--wherever) and why? " "What is your favorite cooking magazine?" "I want to make a gingerbread house for the least money but don't know whether I should get a kit or make it from scratch" "What are your favorite cooking magazines?

And why!?" "how do you get rid of the smell of salmon in your house after cooking it? " "Cooks: What is your favorite "can't live without it" cooking reference? " "What are some of your favorite contest sites?" "Just for fun...can you see yourself wearing any of these new fashions?

What your favorite? " "What is the best gingerbread house making kit?" "What is your favorite cooking gadget tip?

I want to make a gingerbread house for the least money but don't know whether I should get a kit or make it from scratch.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
