Did you know this about the Imam who wants to build the Mosque near ground zero?

I tryto be FAIR, and law abiding, and respect the constitution. Having said that.......NO, I do not support a Mosque being built THERE, in THAT spot. I think it's highly inappropiate......and insensitive, to those in the actual neighborhood.

By the way.....this "Community Center" is being built in the FINANCIAL district of lower Manhattan. Not what ANYONE, by ANY stretch of the immagination would call a MUSLIM community.........so, I fail to grasp the urgent NEED for a community center in THAT location. It smacks more of election year grandstanding and antics.

I do not believe the plan will ever ACTUALLY see the light of day. I think the whole thing was rigged to kick up dust, before the primaries. That's what I think.

Everyone is screaming, "You're a racist! It's a community center!" I guarantee if a Klansman wanted to build a Nazi compound under the guise of a "community center" it would probably fly.

There will be a mosque in this center. The Imam has made several troubling quotes, most notably his support of Wahhabism and his wish to completely abolish the country of Israel. However, the 1st Amendment protects religious establishments from government interference.

As long as they comply with OSHA standards and local building laws, and they raise the money, they can do what they want to. Do not bring up the argument about the Greek Orthodox Church. The deal fell through due to the arduous process of ground zero bureaucracy.

To my knowledge they've raised about $4 million dollars to rebuild the church.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
