Do all these people that come on here asking about getting books published think they're going to get them published?

Askvillians can do anything. Even publish your book.

The real problem is that a lot of people write books thinking that people care what they write. In my experience, authors are like priests or ministers - they themselves are the only ones who give a hoot what is being written.

I think maybe they are preparing books for self-publication and sale through Amazon.

Amazon does have a vanity press division. Someone I went to high school with published one through them. Last I knew it had sold 247 copies, but that made them a big deal in small-town Illinois!

People love seeing their name on a bound book. They start talking about their work as if they're James Joyce.

Not everybody wants to publish a book to become rich and famous. Some people just want to be heard. Its a creative expression and they, like so many other artists, feel a natural inclination to share their expression with the world.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
