As to why, I'm not all that sure except to feather their own nests in some way and play bullyboy obstructionist roles that make no sense for this nation's well-being. Small businesses, President Obama has stated repeatedly, are the HIRING ENGINES for this nation's economy---if they do well they hire more people, and those hired people then pay taxes (revenue for the U.S.) and spend their earnings, thus growing this Republican-SHRIVELED economy! A vote against the middle-class tax cuts is a vote AGAINST this nation's full recovery!
Their EXTORTION tactics should FAIL---I really hope President Obama stands FIRM on his rejection of the $700-added-to-deficit Bush tax cuts for the wealthiest 2%! Senator Mitch McConnell (R-KY) is worth more than $49 MILLION on a life-long Senator's salary---and he filibustered UNEMPLOYMENT INSURANCE EXTENSTIONS. Bottom line is Republicans are only interested in themselves and NOT in what is good for the American people or the American economy.
The reason they denied it is not because they don't want to give tax cuts to the middle class its because they want tax cuts for everyone. The theory is that since upper class tax bracket is comprised of the countries biggest consumers it would be better to allow them to spend their money and stimulate our damaged economy. Most Republicans subscribe the theory of reaganomics, google it if you want to know more.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
