Do people honestly think that what Wikileaks has done was exercising freedom of speech?

There are those within our society who see the USA as an evil empire which should be totally exposed and brought to its knees. For those people, Wikileaks is a hero who is exposing those evils. For more rational people, especially those who have some background of military service, there is an understanding of the need to protect sensitive information from prying eyes.

Even within the private sector, many business deals that be killed on the basis of exposing information. In the case of government information, it may undermine an entire military operation or expose the strategy associated with a particular effort in the end causing it to fail and leave a bad circumstance in place. By the way, those who would see a heroic act on the part of Wikileaks have not problems with embracing a socialist society in many cases...interesting how their thinking works.WB.

These leaks are a wakeup call for governments everywhere. We should no whats going on and i'll debate that with anyone. What gives a few people the right to have secrets that effect everyone, are these people special in some way.

What frightens me the most is how much is held secret from us. I live in a supposedly free country so I want that freedom. If you trust your government enough to let them hide whatever they want then your society is doomed to fail.

I would like to fast forward, say 10 or 20 years, and take a look back on the effect Wikileaks has had, and have a more balanced look at the thing. At the moment, it is, in my opinion, too early to make a judgement on it. I think there are some interesting times ahead on the subject.

I'm saddened that I live in a world where there are people as stupid as nightwork and supersuly. There are some secrets that must be kept by governments, particularly military secrets. Otherwise, people die needlessly.

People who can't spell don't need to know these secrets....It has absolutely nothing to do with freedom of speech, you ignorant morons. And yes nightwork, they are 'special in some way'. They're trained military personel, diplomats, etc.They have trained for years to do their job and don't need your armchair quarterbacking on issues you don't know a damn thing about.

For you to think you should have an opinion on these matters is the height of arrogance. But you can't cure stupid.

No, freedom of speech has boundaries too. You need to be responsible enough with all the words coming out from your mouth or the things you will write. Yes we have the right to react and to say whatever we want but we are responsible and accountable with it.

Wikileaks is good and bad. Firstly it is primely motivated at the absurd war in the Middle East. Y'all know, the one where Baby Bush wanted to do one better than his daddy.

Pretending Saddam had weapons of mass destruction which were never found because they were never there. So Bush could march in and take over the oil that Saddam had only recently threatened to sell to France and Germany. So far wikileaks has known to have killed 0US Government has sent over 1000 good men and women to their death , over oil!

Sent to war over a LIE the people we voted into power through democracy LIED to us all and sent men and women who are worth a hundred lying deceitful politicians to their splattered death! So yes Wilkileaks was a blow for the little guys, the little guys who are damaged from the war, the little guys whos son or daughter will never return. The little guys who do what the spineless in DC are not doing.

Lions lead by DONKEYS. Will Wikileaks get more people killed , maybe, but nowhere near th e amount the US government has killed, our own boys and girls,"enemy" and civilians. Destroyed on a LIE.It is also about time the voters(shareholders) demand more transparency from the board(government)they have placed there.

A socialist society is one that America is heading towards, it's one the UK has been for many years.(There should be a 10 yr minimum prison sentence for any politician who misleads the electorate. ) The likes of George W Bush and Tony Blair should be jailed with hard labour for life, for treason!

No ... the vast majority of people think, its yet another hoax ... a game, being played by smart aleks, the usual bunch of idiots, who think, they are the smartest ... The fact is ... they are playing the free for all ... being in an advantageious position ... Amazonian pygmies, would play it as well, perhaps better ... if in they were residents of New York.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
