"Islam has never learned how to be a religion, it's a tyranny by its very nature." "Until it learns to let the door swing both ways, and permit Muslims to decide not be Muslim without penalty, then the world has no choice but to fight against it in order to remain free. . .. As long as ordinary Muslims believe it's their duty to kill any Muslim who tries to quit being a Muslim, as long as they think they have a holy duty to resort to arms to compel unbelievers to obey Islamic law - you can't liberalize that, you can't make it a decent system for anybody.
Not even for Muslims. Because the cruelest, narrowest, most evil people will always rise to power, because they'll be the ones most willing to wrap themselves in the crescent flag and murder people in God's name. I know this answer will not be popular with everyone but there is only one right WAY ... Jesus said it "I am the Way, the Truth and the Life, no one comes to the Father but by Me. " John 14:6 All other religions and philosophies are wrong. There is only one correct, Biblical Way to God and that is through Jesus Christ.
We are sinners. We are lost. We need a Savior.
The Muslims believe they can work their way to God / Heaven through "good works" and their thinking is so distorted in this regard that many believe "good works" include murderous deeds done in the name of Ala. The politically correct believe every way is right, every way is WRONG, especially Christianity because it claims to be the only WAY. Now, I cannot expect that everyone will immediately believe that Christianity / Christ is THE ONLY WAY, but to say HE is not the ONLY WAY just because I claim or He claims HE IS, or because you believe no way can be THE WAY ... just to be "politically correct."
Well ultimately saying "no way is THE WAY" is a WAY too an ideology that insists EVERYONE IS WRONG, except those who believe "there is no WAY. " So the fact is EVERYONE, whether they want to admit it or not, has a ideology. Even if the ideology is an anti-ideology!"If you believe Christ is the ONLY WAY, you are WRONG, because there is no ONLY WAY" is an ideology too!
" At least one ideology has to be correct, the rest in error, because they are all different. Muslims believe in forcing their ideology upon pain of death. In the past, Marxist - Atheism did the same, also so called Christians did the same. I do not believe leaders of the Inquisition were true Christians, they killed real Christians, then the Atheist will say Marxists were not true Atheists.
Persuasion, regarding who is right, heart persuasion never comes through FORCE. True persuasion comes through communication.
Agree in principle. I would call it more of a totalitarian system than a tyranny. I see a tyranny as more subjective to the whims of the power structure. In a tryanny, if you do as you are told & keep your mouth shut, odds favor a full life.
That cannot be said for the totalitarian nature of Islam. Islam is a religious, socio-economic, political system in which the highest authority will be the ranking member of clerics. It tells you how to eat, how to go to the bathroom, make love to your wife, who you will talk to or not talk to, how you will appear in public, and the list continues until the prescribed method of burial. The wife, well she is told when to assume the desired position.
Islam cannot change. Mohammad presented the info placed into the Koran and he built in job security as well. He is the last & the greatest of all the prophets.
Only he can change what is in the Koran & that will not happen. Mohammad’s words & sayings and his actions also make up the rest of Islamic law. I doubt he will return to earth to correct anything taken out of context.
While you consider those that rise to power as being the most evil, most cruel, most narrow viewpoints; they consider themselves as holy. There is no real controlling religious authority in Islam. In theory, it is the clerics in Mecca. However, any cleric anywhere can issue a fatwa & the Koran even allows for an individual determination of its meaning.
There were a half dozen deluded saps that considered Osama as being too liberal and not a good enough Moslem and issued a fatwa of death against him. I really hate to think of how they died. Christianity has reformed itself by lessening many things called for in the Bible & lessening the control of the church.
Islam reforms itself by returning to the way things were done during the life of Mohammad..
I agree, but good luck going anywhere with it. For a Moslem to agree with that would require the Moslem decide that his Quran was not so authoritative after all, but that some parts could be tweaked or ignored as dominant cultures indicate. You already know how much fun we have with folks disagreeing with the Bible.
Yesterday was an article about how Ian McKellan likes to remove sections of Leviticus from Bibles in hotel rooms because he chooses to be a homosexual and so disagrees with God's statement that homosexual activities violate He disagrees, so he commits vandalism. Other people know he's wrong and will do--what? Shift that to Moslems who still have both feet in the Middle Ages but are quite willing to use 21st century weapons to promote their Middle Ages and you end up preaching to the choir..
Mostly agree, except For once I mostly agree with you! But let's be fair-- most Muslims, like most Christians, do NOT follow the most extreme teachings of their religion. One can look in the Koran or the Bible and find passages that are very militant and incompatible with modern ideas about tolerance.
Let's recall that Christians have a long history (the Crusades) of militancy. Muslims are a little bit sensitive about people with swords taking the offensive onto their homelands. But I do think a lot of Islamic teachings are about top-down blind obedience, which tend to spawn totalitarian governments.
Then again, there are lots of Islamic countries like Indonesia where the govt is quite democratic. One should not generalize to all from a a few passages of text.
You say all of this and yet... Willette, you fail to reccognize that Islam is the very definition of religion! Maybe religion at some point in the very distant past was not as corrupt and degraded as it is today but there is little evidence that such is the case. Organized religion with self-appointed speakers for the over 2,500 deities has, from day one, been a giant con job designed for the consumption of people who refuse to imploy their Neocortex!
And, all you have discovered is...Islam? I suggest reading; it's wonderful what you can learn from people who study and share with others. Sources: rednecksputter, Phill-oss-a-fur, read some, been places .

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
